Corporation Discussion Notes

Members Present: Suzanne Amiss, Martessa Conover, Nancy Dawson, Marcie Durbin, Julia Fry, Wayne Shipe, Chris Sluder, and Steve Sims

Item 1. Personnel.  Due to a recent resignation, the WHS Assistant Girls Tennis Coach position will be filled ASAP.  As of this time, the new position for next year include:

    1 Music position share WHS/WMS
    1 WMS teaching position
    2 WHS positions, PE and Business
    1 WIS position, exploration

Item 2. Student Teachers.  The dministration is making changes in the process of Universities and Colleges sending information to WWS concerning student teacher placement. They hope to create a more efficient process that allows them to schedule the student teacher placements through the year in a timelier manner.

Item 3. Legislation.  The Administration continues to be concerned with the circuit breaker outcome with property taxes. They expect that there may be a deficit in the general fund in two years, thus they will be carefully managing personnel, and student teacher ratio may increase.

Item 4. Discussion Calendar for 2008-2009.  The Administration would like to move the monthly corporate discussion date to the first Tuesday of each month. The School Board meetings will remain at the second Tuesday of each month. WCTA expressed concerns that items brought forth in months where the calendar is adjusted, as this month with corporate discussion rescheduled to accommodate spring break and School Board the following day, may not allow WCTA the time to thoroughly prepare for items that may need to progress to the School Board meeting.

Item 5.  WCTA Committees.  WCTA inquired about the plan for the Alternate Starting Time committee, administration would like the committee to meet prior to the end of the school year, perhaps during the summer to look at the issues concerning this topic.
