Discussion Work Session Notes
Friday, June 27, 2008

Members Present: Martessa Conover, Lossie Crane, Suzanne Amiss, Steve Sims, Wayne Shipe, Karen Bontrager, Marcie Durbin

Administrators Present: Mark Keen, Chase Stinson, Todd Lambert, Chris Baldwin, Lynn Schemel

This was a work session to address two of the discussion topics.

Item 1. RTI Process

Lynn Schemel and Chase Stinson presented a detailed organization model of the new Special Education GEI process. These models will be brought back to executive board to share at discussion at their individual buildings. The Administration desires to implement this system gradually by incorporating many of the steps presently used.  One of the differences, however, involves the use of data to monitor student performance.  The Administration suggested that each school's technology committee would assemble the data required from available online corporation student performance records.  Some pieces of the process are state driven and therefore not in concrete yet. The example they presented to us is very user friendly and makes understanding it easier. Look for more information through Building and Corporation Discussion.

Item 2. Alternative Evaluative Method for Tenured Teachers.

As promised Dr. Keen would like to move away from the traditional means of evaluation for the experienced (tenured) teacher. WCTA made sure the teacher will have the choice of which method to use evaluate their performance. He has presented some of his ideas and would like feedback from staff through discussion. He would like to offer this option as of August. It is part of the Continuous Quality Growth effort of the district.  Each of the building discussion members has an outline of the proposed alternate evaluation system.
