Corporation Discussion Notes

Item 1. (Personnel) Delayed Payment

The Department of Local Government Finance (DLGF) will not be distributing any property tax money until August. WWS has borrowed money to cover bonds and payroll. Dr. Keen said that this would not cause a strain on our corporation.

Item 2. School Calendar

The Administration presented their proposed 2008-2009 calendar with two start/end dates and asked for teacher input. Teachers should contact their building AR to see the calendar and give their input.

 Item 3. Grades

Dr. Keen is asking WCTA to find volunteers for a committee to review the corporation's grading procedures. It has been 11-1/2 years since the policy was adopted.  Whereas high school plays a major role in designing the grading procedures, he wants all of the buildings to review the policies.  Teacher who wish to volunteer should let their Building Representative know so that names can be forwarded to the President of WCTA for appointment to committee.

 Item 4. 1^st Grade Entrance Requirements

Dr. Keen stated that even though there are very few instances where a student might be eligible to enter First Grade early, there have been a few.  Since the corporation doesn't currently have early entrance standards they have drafted some. He has given us a copy of the proposed guidelines for comment. 

Item 5. Alternate Evaluation Instrument

Under the provisions of the Master Contract, the Administration has developed an alternate optional Evaluation Instrument for tenured teachers. This item will be looked at closely and more details will follow as info is shared.

Items 6.  Change in Corporation Discussion Schedule

When school resumes Corporation Discussion will be moved from the first Monday to the first Tuesday of each month.
